Colonel in Chief


Since 17 October 1918, when His Majesty King George V graciously consented to become the first Colonel-in-Chief, this appointment has been held by the Sovereign. The Regiment has subsequently been honoured by His Majesty King George VI and by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as the Regiment's Colonels-in-Chief.

Regimental Matters

The Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiment is kept informed of appropriate matters affecting the Regiment by the Colonel Commandant.

Loyal Greetings

On behalf of the Regiment, the Colonel Commandant sends loyal greetings to the Sovereign each year on the occasion of the Sovereign's birthday and on the anniversary of the Battle of Cambrai.
