Any RTR veteran of the North Africa Campaign will be eligible for funding from the Heroes Return Scheme, supported by the Big Lottery Fund, to enable them to return to where they saw action. This Commemorative Tour, run by British Veterans Travel, will take place in October of this year and offers them the chance to visit Libya, for so long a country closed to tourism, and revisit the battlefields of their campaign and remember comrades whose graves remain carefully tended. The Heroes Return funding will provide a grant of £1500 towards this trip which costs £1545 per person. They would also be eligible to be accompanied by a spouse and/or a carer and their costs will also largely be covered by the funding. You will see that the package, which is tailored specifically for veterans of North Africa, is full board and includes all flights and travel in country. May I stress that we are fully aware of the mobility issues and potential medical requirements of this age group and have planned accordingly.
